One of my earliest decks was the Cat Tarot, by Megan Lynn Kott from Chronicle Books. It mixed cats with the RWS in a very realistic way. This year, Megan released Dog Tarot, placing our favourite canine companions into the cards in a friendly way. Today I'm doing an interview spread to see how the deck and I will get along.
What a great card for this spot! The Magician has the power to make all his dreams come true. With some work and belief it can all happen - you can show me how to have everything I need, like you with your toy, stick and treat. Everything you need to be happy!
What are your strengths as a deck? The Devil
You might have destructive instincts, but you don't have to give in to them. You won't be intimidated by anyone. You'll help me face my darker side and overcome it - shadow work will be a breeze for you.
What are your limits? 8 of Wands
You never know when to stop! Other decks know what problems they can't deal with, but you'll tackle anything I put in front of you, like this dog stacking up his sticks. I'll need to be aware of what I'm bringing to you and what kind of advice you're giving in return.
What are you here to teach me? 7 of Swords
You'll teach me how to notice trickery and deceit around me, like this poor dog being teased by a treat he can't reach. Knowing when people are trying to fool me will be a very valuable skill.
How can I best learn and collaborate with you? 9 of Pentacles
With joy and an open heart. Together we'll achieve everything we want, rising above our destructive tendencies and the trickery of people around us, and earn our happy ending.
What is the potential outcome of our relationship? Ace of Cups
This is going to be a wonderful friendship! This card shows the start of an important relationship, one that can alter everything in our lives. Working together, we'll change our worlds.
It seems like this deck and I can do great things together! If I stay aware of what questions I'm asking, we can work on important projects together and literally get our happy ending. Balancing its' boundless energy and the more shadowed side might be a challenge, but working together, we can keep it in balance and achieve great things.
