Happy Wednesday, all! Welcome to the weekly spread. This week I'm working with the Ukrainian Tarot from redFeather, a deck rooted in Slavic folklore and myth. My daily pulls have been really interesting so far and I'm looking forward to learning a bit more about the deck with this spread!
Tell me about yourself — 3 of Earth
A young woman sits with a kobza, her fingers moving carefully over the strings. She is learning, practising, shaping her craft note by note. She does not rush; she knows that mastery comes through repeated touch and careful attention.
I am a craft learned slowly, the deck says.
I grow stronger the more your hands recognise my weight and texture. Meet me as something you learn into, not something you master once.
Strengths — World
Above her, a stained-glass window glows with the Tree of Life, each branch a vibrant vein of colour spilling like dawn into the room.
I hold many stories without breaking them.
I connect past and present, giving answers that fit a whole life. Coherence, context, and completion are my gifts - the glue that binds moments together, like light caught in glass.
Limits — Magician
Across the room, a shaggy-bearded craftsman stands over his furs and handmade tools. He has everything he needs, and what he doesn’t, he will make with his own hands.
I am not a tool for will without responsibility.
I work with what exists - season, land, memory, and choice - not cleverness divorced from consequence. The deck is clear: it will not bend truth for ambition, and it will not conjure outcomes outside their time.
What I’m here to teach — 5 of Earth
In the kitchen, sunlight spills across a wooden table as a woman kneads dough. She has enough bread for today; tomorrow is unseen.
How to live honestly inside “enough,” the deck says.
Tend what feeds you today without fear of tomorrow stealing your breath. Continuity is the lesson - not panic, not promises. Life flows through seasons, and the deck shows how to walk them steadily.
How to learn and collaborate — Messenger (Knight) of Fire
Outside, a rooster crows at dawn, feathers glinting in the first light. Its voice carries across the village, unafraid and confident, announcing the day with certainty.
Speak what you see when the moment arrives.
Be present. Be clear. Be timely. Trust the first true sound you make. The deck thrives on honesty and clarity, not on hesitation or second-guessing.
Potential outcome — Queen of Water
And finally, we meet Eupraksia Mstislavivna, Ukraine’s first female doctor, poised and attentive. Her care is steady and skilled; her compassion is measured, ethical, and capable.
A steady, skilled compassion, the deck promises.
Emotional knowledge used wisely and well. Care that is strong, boundaries that are kind, and insight that serves living people, not ideals. This is the shape of our unfolding relationship: thoughtful, competent, and ethical.
Summary
The Ukrainian Tarot encourages a “little and often” approach. It is slow, grounded, and deeply relational, rooted in folklore, ancestry, and the rhythms of daily life. Unlike some decks, it emphasises lived experience and ethical presence over clever, intellectual maneuvers. Noticeably, there are no Air cards in this spread - fitting the daily pulls - which shows the deck’s focus on personal, tangible, relational, and moral lessons. It asks patience, presence, and attentiveness, inviting you to step into the story rather than rush to decode it.
