Total Tarot Issue 9

Welcome to Issue 9! This week we complete the Marseille deck and receive the Two of Swords in the Golden Art Nouveau.

Reading the Tarot this week talks about symbolism in Tarot. Although of course each deck is its' own thing, there are some symbols that permeate everything and that will almost always mean the same thing from deck to deck. This article talks about a few of those omnipresent symbols and gives some tips on how to interpret others. The illustrations are from the Symbolic Tarot of Wirth which will arrive at some unspecified point in the future of the collection.

Our Card in Detail is Strength this week, a card that is usually quite similar from deck to deck. It's interesting looking at the different versions!

The second part of the Marseille Mystery Spread features in our Tarot Spreads article, going into great detail on the cards pulled last week. I love reading interpretations of spreads so this article is right up my street! It's so intriguing seeing how I would interpret them and how that matches up to the 'professionals'.

The Visual Reference to the Marseille deck minors lets us see the pips laid out in pattern, watching them grow from Aces to Tens.

Tarot Techniques talks about what to do when your Querant wants the Tarot to tell them what to do. As we know, Tarot is an amazing tool, but it should never be given complete control - but sometimes you have to be very diplomatic when telling people that! Illustrations are from the Pre Raphelite Tarot, due in the next pair of issues.

The World of Tarot article talks about the early history of Tarot, before it was used for divination when it was simply a parlour game. It's fascinating to read about the evolution of the game into what we know now!

The final Glossary entry covers T through to Y - no Z words in tarot, apparently - and we have a few tips and tricks. Next week will be the first with no Glossary, I'm excited to see what takes its' place!
