Guest review: Amazing Women Oracle Cards by Mara Parra & Victoria Benaim & Josefina Schargorodsky

Take courage, empowerment and advice from 45 rebel muses with this inspirational deck.

Meet 45 rebel women, artists, thinkers, politicians, writers and musicians from across the globe. Their weapons: power, art, science, literature and music. Most of them were stigmatized or misunderstood, but in the end – who wants to be normal? These women broke the mould and blazed a trail, and now you can too. These stylishly illustrated cards allow you to channel Frida Kahlo, Marilyn Monroe, Nina Simone and other muses from around the world – they will give you their messages on 4 different areas: life, work, love and learning.
  • Marie Curie life advice? It is time to see what happens when you stop listening to others.
  • Nina Simone’s tip on work: If it doesn’t open, it wasn’t your door.
  • Love according to Lady Di? Beware: the prince of your dreams can steal them.
  • Frida Kahlo on learning: Don’t stumble twice over the same stone.

The accompanying booklet contains mini biographies of each woman, along with an important quote. There are also 3 different suggested card layouts to gain insight and inspiration.

Meet amazing women from across the globe in this ultimate collection of feminist inspiration.

Welcome Spring and the divine feminine with this delightful oracle set. The set contains 45 inspirational cards each featuring a remarkable woman from history . There is a vast selection of what is only just scratching the surface of how women have helped to shape the history of humanity.
Bearing in mind that many prominent female figures have been scratched from the historical records, and as the introduction in the 116 page accompanying booklet points out we are indeed mostly familiar with the men who have made history . So this oracle set really is all about empowering women.
The set is packaged in a card box the design of which doubles as a picture frame to place the Femme card you are working with in perfectly, this is covered by a slide off card sleeve. The cards themselves are a lovely quality with a soft pale green colour on the back with a branch motif at two opposing corners , palest delicate pink on the front with an illustration of each lady and four simple but to the point soundbites on each. The cards are unnumbered and are set out in alphabetical order for reference with the booklet. The booklet contains two pages for each of the cards, one with an illustration and one with a brief and succinct description of the life's work of the said lady.
There is a reference for card layouts and how to use cards also. It's very simple and effective in its design overall.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with these cards and it feels as if you can channel some of the vast intelligence, creativity, passion and empathy of these outstanding women. Possibly igniting some of my own sparks.
I found it surprising that the first one I had out was Ada Lovelace, a computer programming pioneer and a genius of maths and engineering. I wondered how that would relate to me as I am certainly no genius, however her tenacity for new ideas and her methods of self discipline and study appealed to me greatly. I had in fact had her twice in a row which sent me down a wonderful rabbit hole of discovery.
The next one I worked with was Marina Abramovich , performance artist and a fantastic big thinker . Avant gaarde doesn't even begin to cover it, there was a spooky resonance where I discovered an old friend of mine who is a professional photographer had been commissioned to photograph Marina and had posted it on social media the very same day that I was working with her.
I also found it very educational as one of the cards I got was Silvina OCampo an Argentinian author who I had never heard of but found out that she was also a Tarot card reader so more resonance!
Controversial figures like Anna Politkovskya who courageously covered the news of the struggle for human rights during the Chechnyan War. It is widely believed that she was assassinated for her caring and courage, also appeared for my consideration. As well as a good variety of other fascinating Women.
So many more yet to be discovered ! The ever popular ones are there like Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, Hypatia, Marie Curie etc. As well as figures from the art and music scene like Nina Simone and Janis Joplin, Frida Khalo and my personal heroine Remedios Varo, part of the beauty of this set is you get the unexpected so no matter how much I willed for the Varo card to appear I got to work with and learn all about so much more. It takes you out of your comfort zone in a most delightful way.
Amazing Women is a gorgeous little kit for tapping into Goddess energy and I found it to be very useful for helping me to focus and create. Absolutely perfect as an educational tool , the simplicity and effectiveness are immaculate . This kit would suit young people very much but suitable for all ages and levels of understanding. Completely absorbing and a wonderful way to mark international Women's day on March the 8th, or indeed any day.
