Wednesday Spread: Hearth & Moon Spell Spread, Everyday Witch Tarot

Happy Wednesday, all! Welcome to the Wednesday spread. We're working with the Everyday Witch Tarot this week, and as the LWB only has one, three and Celtic Cross spreads, I've come up with a spread especially for the deck! This is the Hearth & Moon Spell Spread. Lay seven cards out; 1 in the centre, 2 above it, 3 and 4 down on the right, 5 and 6 up on the left, and 7 at the bottom. You should end up with a circle and one card inside. Instructions below, and my spread below that!

1 — The Cauldron (Centre)

What the situation truly is.
The raw ingredients. No interpretation yet, just the honest state of things — emotional, practical, or hidden.

This is the “what you’re actually working magic on,” which is often not the question you asked.

2 — The Smoke

What is unclear, obscured, or misleading you.
Assumptions, mixed signals, wishful thinking, anxiety stories.
This card often explains why you keep circling the issue.

3 — The Familiar

The ally available to you.
Not necessarily a person. Could be a skill, habit, coping mechanism, boundary, resource, or part of your personality that can help — but you may not be using it.

(Everyday Witch cats are absolutely the inspiration here.)

4 — The Knot

What binds or blocks the situation.
The sticking point. The repeating pattern. The thing you keep doing even though you know better.

This is usually the “spell backfire” card — the behaviour unintentionally reinforcing the problem.

5 — The Herb

What to actively do.
Your practical magic.
A real-world action: a conversation, rest, planning, honesty, patience, saying no, applying for something, letting go, etc.

This is the spell ingredient you add.

6 — The Flame

Where to put your energy and intention.
Not action — focus.
This tells you what mindset or attitude makes the working effective.

(Think: courage, detachment, playfulness, discipline, compassion…)

7 — The Moon’s Result

How the situation evolves if you follow the working.
Not a fixed future — the trajectory created by aligning with the previous cards.

Now for my spread! This was a really fun one to work on.

1 — The Cauldron

The World

An interesting card for this spot! This suggests that, although the current cycle has finished, we're holding on to it emotionally. We need to face what's finished and move on.

2 — The Smoke

The Hermit

Yes, it's good to get away and have time to decompress. But too much time alone, too much thinking, can get us caught up in a loop, and that's no good for anyone. Try and break that cycle if you can.

3 — The Familiar

Four of Swords

Yes, it feels like this is contradicting the Hermit. But this isn't about time away. It's about rest. Real, actual rest, the kind that helps short circuit mental loops and process feelings. The cards are being pretty clear here.

4 — The Knot

The Lovers

Ah, this one’s a sticky little spell, isn’t it? The Lovers isn’t about love letters or grand gestures - it’s about that stubborn bit of your heart that refuses to let go. You’re still holding on, imagining other endings, replaying old “what ifs.” The card whispers: it’s time to tuck that looped-up worry into a little bundle, give it a polite nod, and set it aside. Not forever, just long enough for your mind and heart to catch up with reality. Think of it as tying a ribbon around your attachment and putting it on the shelf for a while - you don’t need to rush, just decide to release your grip so the rest of the magic can happen.

5 — The Herb

Five of Cups

I know, this doesn't feel like it belongs here, does it? But what it's telling us is; it's ok to grieve. We've been trying to logic out of it, getting stuck in that inner loop, refusing to let go. The only way out of this is true. Feel the grief. Then we can start to move on.

6 — The Flame

Three of Cups

It's easy to pull away from others - that Hermit instinct again. But community is how we heal. Trust that others want to help you, and let them ground you while you recover.

7 — The Moon’s Result

The Sun

Think of that moment when the sun shines after a long period of bad weather. The relief, the feeling of a weight lifting from your shoulders. That's the feeling this card is promising, once we've faced our grief and begun to work through it. It's coming.

Four Majors and two Cups? This spread wants to be heard. I hope it's useful to someone. Take this spread as a gentle reminder: magic isn’t always fireworks or grand gestures - sometimes it’s the quiet work of letting go, resting, and letting the people and things you trust hold space for you. Step through this circle with intention, and you’ll find the sunlight waiting at the other side. 🌞
