Tarot Training Sleeves by James Jacob Pierre and Dan Williams

Learn Tarot meanings effortlessly with this innovative three-step interactive training program

Tarot Training Sleeves is an innovative three-step learning program that puts meanings at your fingertips. To use:

Slide your own favorite Tarot card (fits decks up to 3" x 5") and the included Definition Card and Keyword Labels into the sleeve.

Use the Keyword Labels when you’re just getting started, then remove and use the Definition Cards when you’re ready to test your memory and dive deeper.

When you're ready to take the next step, scan the QR code on the Definition Cards to be taken to the Tarot Training portal for advanced meanings, correspondences, history, video content, and more.

Enjoy a hands-on, intuitive Tarot learning experience without having to stop your flow to flip through and reference a guidebook.

You can see a video of me rather ineptly putting a few sleeves together on TikTok or youtube.

Learning tarot is always tricky at first. There are so many meanings to remember! Every beginner spends more time flicking through their book of meanings than actually looking at the cards, unless you've got one of the rare decks with keywords printed on them.

Now any deck can be that deck. The Tarot Training Sleeves are plastic sleeves at 3" x 5", sized to fit most tarot decks (standard tarot size is 2.75" x 4.75", while standard playing cards are 2.5" by 3.5".) I did try with a deck that claims to be 3" x 5" and it was just a hair too big to fit in, but I didn't measure it myself so I can't say if the card was too big or the pocket's not quite right!

The system comes in a box designed to look like a book, with page effects on the edges and a curved spine. Inside, you have 80 sleeves, 84 definition stickers - 6 of them are blank - and 80 definition cards, including 2 blank ones. They're numbered with the steps you need to take.

Step One: Put your cards into sleeves.

Step Two: Add the keyword stickers.

Step Three: Add the definition cards.

And that's it! You now have keywords on the sticker, more indepth meanings on the cards (upright and reversed), and each card has a QR code to take you to even more meanings on the Tarot Training Sleeves website. The sleeves can be shuffled when they're full, they just need a bit of care as they're slippery.

The stickers and definition cards have Strength at 8 and Justice at 11, so if your deck has them the other way around you'll just need to rewrite a couple of the stickers to suit yourself. The Minors also use Coins instead of Pentacles, but everything else is very standard - the Court names are normal, none of the Majors are renamed. These would be really useful for decks that rename suits or Majors, as you've got both the usual name and the new one right there so you can learn to associate them.

I think this is a fabulous way for beginners, or those who know tarot a bit already, to get to grips with the cards! A gift of this and a deck would be amazing, and as the keywords aren't image specific the deck could be any style the recipient would like. No more RWS if that's not their style! These would work with pip decks too, as you can see below.

As the stickers are attached to the sleeves, not the cards, it's simple to switch them out if you're trying another deck. It won't damage your cards or leave sticky residue - it's all on the sleeve! I think this is a really clever idea and it's going to do really well.
